Im Glas kräftiges Kirschrot mit deutlichen violetten Reflexen. In der Nase intensiver Waldhimbeerduft hinzu kommen weitere Fruchtnoten, die an süße Kirschen, Cassis, Brombeeren und Orangenschale erinnern. Florale Noten, die an Veilchen, Rosen und rosa Pfefferkörner denken lassen, Gewürze, wie Zimt und Sternanis, sowie die feinen Kräuternoten der Garrigue runden dieses komplexe und noch jugendliche Aromenspektrum ab. Am Gaumen profitiert der Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vielles Vignes zusätzlich von einer sehr anregenden Säure, die ihn trotz seiner Fülle und Vollmundigkeit schlank und finessenreich erscheinen lässt. Seine Tanninstruktur ist feinkörnig und der Nachhall deutlich von Pfeffer- und Lakritznoten geprägt. Ein Wein, der mit etwas Reife seine schon now spürbare burgundische Finesse noch besser entfalten kann.
